TiviMate Setup Guide
The most capable player on Android TV, and the most configurable.
Setting up TiviMate
- 1
Install from the Play Store
On Android TV and Google TV, TiviMate installs directly. On Firestick it must be sideloaded via Downloader, since it is not in the Amazon Appstore.
- 2
Add your playlist
On first launch choose "Add playlist", then "Xtream Codes". Enter your username, password and server URL exactly as issued, including the port and with no trailing slash.
- 3
Confirm the EPG source
Go to Settings → Playlists → your playlist → EPG source. On an Xtream Codes playlist the provider guide should already be listed. If empty, add the XMLTV URL from your activation message.
- 4
Set time shift to zero
Settings → EPG → Time shift must be 0 unless you have a specific reason otherwise. A non-zero value here is the most common cause of listings that are consistently a few hours out.
- 5
Reduce cached days on weaker hardware
On a Firestick or a 1 GB Android box, cut cached EPG days to two or three. The full seven-day file regularly times out mid-download on low-memory devices.
Time shift is the number one TiviMate support ticket
TiviMate exposes a time-shift setting that many guides tell people to change. In almost every case it should stay at 0 and the timezone should be corrected instead. Changing time shift masks the symptom and breaks catch-up alignment at the same time.
Strengths
- Best-in-class programme guide layout and navigation
- Multiple playlists managed side by side
- Recording and catch-up support on the Premium tier
- Highly customisable channel groups and favourites
Limitations
- Android-only — no iOS, no Smart TV native app
- Best features sit behind the Premium tier
- More settings than most users need, which makes misconfiguration easier
